These terms apply to knightiq.net (“KnightIQ”, “we”). By using the site you agree to them. If you do not, please do not use it.
KnightIQ is a chess training tool. It reads publicly available games from your Chess.com or Lichess account and builds lessons, puzzles and analysis from them. It is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Chess.com or Lichess.
You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18 you need permission from a parent or guardian. Some countries set a higher minimum age for online services (16 in parts of the EU); where that applies, that age applies to you.
You need a Chess.com or Lichess account, and you may only enter a username you own or have permission to use.
KnightIQ has no password and no account of its own. Access to paid features is tied to the chess username you sign in with, on the site you signed in from. chesscom:yourname and lichess:yourname are treated as different people. Anyone who signs in with your username on this site sees your progress, so treat it accordingly.
Grandmaster is a recurring subscription, billed monthly or yearly at the prices shown when you subscribe. Payment is handled entirely by Stripe; we never see, handle or store your card details.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until cancelled. Prices may change, and we will tell you before a change affects a renewal.
Where a trial is offered, the trial price and length are shown at checkout. When the trial ends the subscription continues at the standard price unless you cancel first.
You may cancel at any time. Access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for, and then stops. We do not pro-rate part-months.
If you are in the UK or EU you have a statutory right to cancel a digital purchase within 14 days. Where you have started using the paid features immediately, that right may be reduced or lost, and by subscribing you accept that access begins straight away.
Outside those cases, refunds are at our discretion. If something is broken and we cannot fix it, ask — we would rather refund you than keep money for a service that did not work.
Please do not: attempt to bypass paid features; automate, scrape or resell the service; use it to attack, overload or probe our infrastructure or the chess sites we read from; or share one subscription beyond the number of accounts it covers.
KnightIQ will not make you a better chess player on its own. Ratings, projected Elo figures and improvement estimates are calculated from your games and are estimates, not predictions or guarantees. Nothing here is a promise of a rating gain.
The service is provided “as is”. Analysis comes from a chess engine and from automated content checks; it can be wrong. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at any particular time.
KnightIQ reads from the public APIs of Chess.com and Lichess. We do not control those services. If they change, restrict, or remove access, parts of KnightIQ may stop working, and that is not a fault we can always fix. Your use of those sites is governed by their own terms.
To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim relating to KnightIQ is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
We may suspend or end access if these terms are broken, if payment fails, or if the service is being abused. If we end your access without cause while you have paid time remaining, we will refund the unused part.
We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced on the site before they take effect, and the date at the top of this page will change.
